Tranmere 4-0 Bromley: Brabin warns Rovers still haven’t reached peak

Gary Brabin is warning Tranmere’s promotion rivals they have not yet peaked – despite a 4-0 drubbing of Bromley at Prenton Park.

Rovers ran away with the points as Jonny Margetts and Andy Mangan both bagged braces.

It is Tranmere’s biggest home win since beating Colchester by the same scoreline in September 2012.

And Brabin reckons such a big victory had been coming.

“I thought we came out of the blocks really sharp in the first five or ten minutes,” he said.

“We put them on the back foot, but then they caused us one or two problems.

“We weren’t happy coming in at half-time, even though we were 1-0 up, with the way we were defending.

“We’re much better than that, so we had a few words and I thought second half we were solid.

“That’s more like how we defend and I think that gives you the platform to get on the front foot a little bit more.

“We’ve probably needed a good win like that, because I don’t think we’ve always had what we’ve deserved in some games.

“But we’ve put on a good performance and hopefully we can carry it on.

“It had been coming. It’s nice now that our three strikers are all off the mark. It’s looking healthier from that point of view.

“We keep striving more, I keep saying I think we’re capable of getting better.

“I think we’re seeing more and more flashes now of what we’re capable of.

“That was a real good performance. I think everyone who’s come will have enjoyed it.

“Clean sheets, scoring goals and three points, it’s always a real plus.”

Brabin is particularly pleased with Andy Mangan’s goalscoring exploits, as the striker moved on to six for the season.

He has also netted four times in three games, and the manager

“I love it when he’s playing like that, and I think he does as well,” he continued.

“We have our moments together, but he’s happy when he’s scoring.

“I’m delighted for him today, and Jonny Margetts.

“It was between him and Marlon Jackson over who would start today.

“We had a little bit of faith in him, it was another opportunity for him and he’s grabbed it with both hands.

“When they’re playing like that on the shoulder, those two are really hard to contained.

“They posed loads of problems and I’m delighted they’ve got a couple of goals each.”
