David Flitcroft is keen to keep Barnsley up – and stay in a job.
Flitcroft replaced Keith Hill in January on a contract that runs until the end of the season.
They are currently in 23rd place but could jump out of the bottom three if they beat promotion-chasing Hull today.
“I’d love to be the manager here next season,” he said.
“To do that, I might have to keep Barnsley in the Championship.
“That was the remit when I first took over.
“This group of players fought hard to get myself and my backroom team the opportunity to manage here.
“We don’t want to relinquish that.”
