Chris O’Grady insists Barnsley’s FA Cup run is not distracting them from their fight for survival – despite a second successive defeat.
This loss to Bolton saw them slip to just one point above the relegation zone.
But O’Grady insists it is not the glamour tie with Manchester City that is occupying their thoughts, but retaining their Championship status.
“The focus around the club has not been about the cup draw,” said the loan striker.
“We know where our priorities lie. It’s all about the league.”
O’Grady, who is cup-tied for the City game, was left frustrated as Barnsley gifted Bolton a two goal lead before half-time.
David Ngog fired the visitors ahead after 15 minutes before Jay Spearing doubled the lead with a powerful 22-yard strike.
Barnsley got straight back into the game after the break as Tomasz Cywka pulled one back seconds after the restart before O’Grady capitalised on a spill by ‘keeper Adam Bogdan to level.
However, all of Barnsley’s good work was undone on the hour as Craig Dawson pounced to fire home the winner after Luke Steele flapped at a free-kick.
Match-winner Dawson was delighted to pick up a win as Bolton continued their push towards the play-offs.
The on-loan West Brom defender, who has scored four goals in three games, said: “We showed great determination to stay in the game and snatch a winner.
“The hard work everyone’s been putting in on the training ground is paying off.”
